If Metronaut is not detecting your playing, check your practice mode, AI Feedback switch, microphone permissions and MIDI connection.
These checks apply when Wait does not move with your playing, AI Feedback does not respond, or Tempo AI cannot detect your performance. Older articles may describe these as problems with “intelligent modes.”
1. Check your practice mode and AI Feedback
Open Tempo in the score toolbar.
- Fixed does not adapt the accompaniment to your playing. Select Tempo AI if you want the accompaniment to follow you.
- Wait moves the cursor with your playing and has no accompaniment.
- Tempo AI is available in the iOS, Android and Mac apps, not on Web.
- Turn AI Feedback on if you want visual feedback and scoring/XP. It works with every available mode.
2. If you use a microphone
Check that Metronaut has permission to use your microphone in your device’s privacy settings. On Web, also check microphone permission for the Metronaut website in your browser.
Make sure the intended microphone is selected and can hear your instrument. See how to select a microphone.
3. If you use a MIDI instrument
Check that your instrument is connected to Metronaut. Microphone permission alone will not resolve a disconnected MIDI instrument. Follow the digital instrument and MIDI connection guide.
Still having trouble?
If Metronaut detects you but the accompaniment follows poorly, use the Tempo AI following guide. If sound and cursor timing are out of sync, see audio latency troubleshooting.
Otherwise, contact support with your device or browser, selected mode, piece title, and whether you use a microphone or MIDI instrument.
