Metronaut recordings are multi-channel. This means that we record your part (audio and/or video) and the accompaniment separately and try to provide you with the best quality right from your phone or tablet.
Why does my part of recording sound corrupted?
If your part of recording sounds corrupted, it is most probably because you are using your device's internal speakers while recording. On some Apple devices, the microphone is designed right next to the speakers! This makes capturing your part difficult as the accompaniment part can fully mask your part as they both enter into the microphone! Metronaut uses sophisticated and state-of-the-art technology to suppress the accompaniment echo and on-the-fly. But in some harsh circumstances this ends up doing more harm than good!
How can I improve my recording quality on Metronaut?
Use one of the three preferred ways below to improve recording quality and enjoy listening to your performances synchronized to the music sheet:
- Prefer using (any) external speakers while recording with Metronaut: Metronaut can connect to any speakers or headsets and in most cases can even compensate their latency. Learn more
- If you don't have any speakers available to connect to your device, try reducing the general volume of your phone or tablet while recording! This will bring more room for Metronaut to actually hear you from the Microphone! Once the recording is done, you can simply change the mix between the two and export or share the way you desire the balance.
- In rare situation or for high-quality studio recordings, you can use external microphones when using Metronaut.
