Connect a digital piano or MIDI instrument to Metronaut to practice with interactive sheet music, accompaniment and optional AI Feedback.
Metronaut supports MIDI instruments on iOS, Mac and Android, and on Web in Chrome. Connection methods depend on your instrument and platform; you may need a compatible USB cable or adapter, or a supported Bluetooth MIDI connection.
Connect your MIDI instrument
Connect your instrument to your device using a supported connection method.
Open a piece in Metronaut. If asked whether you use an acoustic or MIDI instrument, choose MIDI.
Follow the connection prompts. If Metronaut asks to discover Bluetooth MIDI devices, allow discovery for that connection.
Select your instrument from the list. A check mark indicates the connection.
You can review or change the connection from the Account tab, or from Tools → Audio on a score. The available connection options depend on your platform.
Choose a practice mode and AI Feedback
- Fixed: play along with accompaniment at the selected tempo.
- Wait: move through the score with your playing, without accompaniment.
- Tempo AI: let the accompaniment follow your playing in the iOS, Android and Mac apps.
Turn AI Feedback on in the Tempo panel to enable visual feedback and scoring/XP with your chosen mode. On Web, use Fixed or Wait.
Reconnect or switch back to a microphone
Metronaut tries to maintain your MIDI connection and reconnect when you use the app again. If the connection is lost, check the instrument and connection settings.
To return to an acoustic instrument, deselect the MIDI connection and use your microphone input.
My MIDI instrument is not detected
Check the cable, adapter or wireless connection, then select the instrument again in Metronaut. On Web, use Chrome. If you need help, contact support with your instrument model, device, browser if applicable, and connection method.
