Explore Metronaut’s sheet music tools for choosing a practice mode, feedback, tempo, loops, annotations, transposition, tuning, recordings, printing and score display. This guide shows where to find the controls and links to detailed instructions.
Practice controls in the score toolbar
- Modes: choose how you want to approach the piece. Select Listen to hear available recordings, Sight-read to learn notes at your own pace, Practice to work at a selected playback speed, or Interpret (AI Tempo) for tempo-following in a native app.
- AI Feedback: turn visual feedback and evaluation on or off with the independent toolbar button. It is on by default in Metronaut 9, but inactive during listening.
- Tempo: adjust playback speed and turn the Metronome on or off. This panel no longer contains mode selection or the feedback switch.
- Loop: repeat a passage so you can focus on it.
- Recording controls: record and review performances in the native apps. Listening mode does not record a performance.
In the selected listening or practice mode, speaker icons control the available audio tracks. For piano pieces with hand versions, choose the hand you practice inside Modes. There is no separate Hands button in the standard practice toolbar. See versions and piano hands.
Listen stays selected when you pause. Choose a different mode when you are ready to practice.
The practice mode’s label can change to Practice with accompaniment, Sing or Sing with accompaniment, depending on your instrument and the piece.
Open the Tools menu
Tap or click Tools (☰) at the top right of the score for settings and tools such as:
- Annotation: add drawings, highlights and musical reminders to the score.
- Recordings: review and manage saved performances in the iOS, Mac and Android apps.
- Tuning: tune your instrument or adjust the tuning reference.
- Transposition: adapt the music to your instrument or preferred key.
- Display: choose scrolling and page-turn behavior, cursor appearance and accompaniment score display.
- Versions: choose another arrangement, difficulty level or accompaniment when available.
- Printing: print sheet music where supported.
Audio settings provide volume and input options. When a piece has both your-part and accompaniment audio, the Volumes section also offers a balance slider for the selected listening or practice mode. No two-track balance is shown when only one track exists.
Available tools depend on the piece and your platform. See the iOS, Mac, Android and Web comparison for the differences.
